HIMA USA 2023:

Chamber Music Workshop

August 13 - 18, 2023. Six-day chamber music intensive for pre-formed string chamber music ensembles.

This is a program for committed, pre-formed chamber music ensembles. Participants must be 18 years or older. Conservatory and college student string chamber music groups and adult pre-formed chamber groups are welcome to apply. Participants will receive:

  • Daily coaching by world-class faculty

  • Master classes and/or string technique sessions

  • Daily rehearsal time and space

  • Final day performance

  • Housing in shared, group accommodations

  • Admissions pass to Lakeside Chautauqua (access to wellness and fitness center, recreational activities and other cultural and educational programs) during festival dates

  • Daily breakfast and lunch

Tuition: $800 per person, includes shared group lodging, daily lunch, and one admissions pass to Lakeside Chautauqua covering the dates of the HIMA-USA festival.

Location: Rehearsals, coachings, and master classes will take place at the Danbury School in Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, located adjacent to the Lakeside Chautauqua main gates. Concerts and other activities will take place within the Lakeside Chautauqua campus.

  • Sibbi Bernhardsson, violin (Oberlin Conservatory Professor of Violin, former member Pacifica Quartet)

  • Mari Sato, violin (former member, Cavani Quartet)

  • Eric Wong, viola (Cavani Quartet)

  • Amit Even-Tov (Ariel String Quartet)

Dates: August 13 - 18, 2023. Festival participants who are traveling and lodging in Lakeside will be expected to arrive on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in order to start the workshop activities on the morning of Sunday, August 13. Final festival activities (final concerts) will take place on the evening of Friday, August 18.
