HIMA USA takes place on “Ohio’s most beautiful mile,” in the lakefront community of Lakeside Chautauqua, Ohio.
HIMA-USA will take place in the historic community of Lakeside Chautauqua, Ohio on the Lake Erie shore. A private, gated lakefront community, Lakeside Chautauqua is an ideal, vacation destination for people of all ages, offering an abundance of educational lectures, arts and cultural events, and recreational activities as well as shopping and dining options. While Lakeside Chautauqua charges admissions fees from Memorial Day to Labor day, your HIMA USA registration covers your daily admission fee to Lakeside Chautauqua, providing you access to the cultural, recreational, and educational offerings within the Lakeside community. Learn more about Lakeside Chautauqua. Rehearsals, coachings and master classes will take place at the nearby Danbury School, located adjacent to Lakeside Chautauqua’s main gates. Concerts and other activities will take place inside the Lakeside Chautauqua campus.
Planning your stay in Lakeside
Lakeside Chautauqua has a variety of housing options including two hotels, cottage rentals, inns, guest houses, bed and breakfasts, and a campground. The HIMA USA Advanced String Quartet Intensive and Chamber Music Intensive programs include shared, group accommodations including shared bathrooms and kitchen. The Junior String Workshop registration fee does not include lodging. HIMA USA Junior String Workshop participants are required to secure their own housing. We encourage you to book your accommodations as early as possible, as vacation rentals and hotels book quickly.
There are two hotels located conveniently in the heart of Lakeside: the Fountain Inn and Hotel Lakeside.
Cottage or apartment rentals: in addition online booking sites such as Airbnb and VRBO, there are two cottage rental companies located in Lakeside that have rental listings on their online booking sites.

Festival participants will be expected to arrive on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in order to start the workshop activities on the morning of Sunday, August 13. Final festival activities (final concerts) will take place on the evening of Friday, August 18.
